A Quick Post

Christ is Risen! Indeed He is Risen!

I am slowly getting back into a regular groove. Much of this involves cleaning up/filing all the piles of books, papers, service materials, etc. that have been growing around my office chair and in the parish vestry. It also involves gradually adding back all the (worthwhile) things that were sacrificed to Great Lent and Holy Week. This includes exercise, administrivia, “recreational” reading, and (eventually) posting longer and more substantive articles to this website.

In the meantime, I encourage you to continue listening to the weekly podcast. I have received a lot of positive (and some negative) feedback regarding the new format and (especially) the interviews with our new friend from the Autonomous Sich of Rusivka (the “Center/Capital of all Rus”), Pawlo Amerikanchuk. In addition to continuing to draw on Pawlo’s expertise, I hope to interview other folks (to include “The Quiet Revolution” blogger, Professor Demetra Perlegas).

Some things I would like to develop here include:

The ambiguity of place and time (prompted by a discussion with a friend in Charlottesville about a photo taken of her when she was experiencing a moment of profound peace and joy).

An Orthodox view of the “paranormal” (prompted by reading and listening to the work of Paul Eno, watching the Discovery channel, and living in an area which seems to have a lot of such stuff going on).

Assuming my notes on the subject are still to be found in one of the myriad mountains of “research” surrounding me, the process by which the Orthodox Church formally recognizes a Christian’s holiness (i.e. glorification).

Orthodox ecclesiology (sounds dry, but this includes looking into some very pressing issues)

My obsession with buying a summer retreat in my “ancestral homeland” (northern PA/southern NY State)

In the meantime, may God bless you and offer you His Godspeed!

Christ is Risen!
